SPECIAL POST
How
to Meet Deadlines and Remain Sane:
1. Deadlines
are good to get you motivated if you need that. See them as a positive part of
the writing process.
2. Communicate
with family and friends and let them know why you’re hiding away. That way
you’ll get the support you need to complete the project.
3. Be
prepared to get up extra early or stay up late. Whatever it takes to make
headway.
4. The
process should be fun, so putting more effort into it is not a grind.
5. Envision
the finished novel and how that makes you feel.
6. Take
breaks and take time out of your day to recharge.
7. Factor
in time for special occasions, family requirements, and other commitments. Be
realistic when you set your deadline or agree to one.
8. Ensure
your deadlines coincide with those of your editor, book cover designer, or
formatter, or blog tour organizer. Communicate to them what your goal is and
confirm that they are able to accommodate your request. Book them many months in
advance.
9. Don’t
set a deadline if you are attempting to write in a new genre from what you
usually write.
10. Although
it’s always best to strive to meet deadlines they can be moved. ;)
